I finished these on Tuesday evening - 'Traffic Stopper' socks for my almost-5-year son. It's Regia Cotton Top Color #4075, using 2 x 2.5mm Addi Turbo circs. He's a size 10-11 shoe and I had a little bit of yarn left over. I liked the feel of this yarn as it was knitting up and found that it's got quite a bit of stretch in it too. He loves them and wore them to school on Wednesday, and Thursday .... in fact, he hasn't taken them off since! They'll start humming soon! ;0)
And this lovely yarn is the result of S.E.X. at Posh Yarn's sale last Sunday. It's all Emily sock yarn - L-R - Surf 'n' Turf, Canary and Carnation. They are such lovely vibrant colours, unfortunately the photo doesn't do them justice, they are so much more vibrant IRL.
Also today I finished Sahara but haven't been able to get a decent photo so that'll have to wait till the weekend. I'm really pleased with how it turned out and think I'll get a lot of wear out of it with the short sleeves.

I'm dying to try some of that Posh yarn. Those colors you picked are gorgeous!
Wonderful socks...great colour. When first read the post saw size 10/11 thought crikey your brave...only knitted one pair thus far for DH...then read again and saw for your son...duh!!! lol...posh yarn colours gorgeous too.
It's no wonder your son doesn't want to take off his socks. They're great! And don't you love knitting socks for people who still have small feet? I also love the fact that they always have bruised shins. It never fails. They always do until they're about 8 or 9, it seems. All part of having such an active and fun life, I guess.
Your Posh yarn is so vibrant. Are you going to make socks with it? I have some Emily, too, but I am hesitant to make socks with it, wondering if it will wear out too quickly because it's soooo soft.
Valerie, I *love* making DS socks because they only take about a day to make one sock, it's so quick! And as for bruises! He has about a dozen scattered all over his legs at any one time, I was just lucky to only get one in the photo! ;0) Like you say, all part of having an active and fun life. He never sits still. ;0)
I do intend making socks with my Emily yarn (for me), there are quite a few patterns in More SKS that are tempting me at the moment but I'm going to give it a few more weeks before I finally make up my mind. As for wear, I already have one pair in Emily in 3x1 rib (in the 'Sweetshop' colourway) and they're wearing well. I probably wear them about once or twice a week. I toss them in the washing machine, even though PY recommends hand washing (life's too short, etc......!) and they come out fine, although they do benefit from being blocked after washing, as do the Lucia socks too IMHO. They softened up wonderfully after washing, if that's possible, because the yarn is so soft to start with. ;0)
That's good to know about the Emily (I've seen your Sweetshop socks in Dee's photo gallery and they're fabulous). Now I won't be worried about making socks from mine. I know what you mean about the softness of the Lucia, too, especially after washing a few times, when the cashmere really blooms.
Beautiful Posh yarns. I've jsut indulged at Posh. Got some Emily too.
They look great. My kids have been bugging me to make socks for them too, but so far I haven't found a good kids-pattern that I like (although honestly I haven't looked very hard). These look pretty though - where is the pattern from?
Anna - it's a basic toe up pattern that I always use - 48 stitches for a 4-5 year old size, 50 rows for the foot, 50 rows for leg and 15 rows for the 2x2 rib. If you need any more info, just let me know. :0)
